Reminiscing days are here again! You know that nostalgic feeling after you are back from 20 days of incredible holidays abroad. It’s like starting all over again with fresh aspirations and ready to conquer anything along the way. Travelling is the best way to fill your mind with wonderful memories and open your heart to other cultures, spreading love everywhere! Drenched in my thoughts, having a cup of coffee and typing this blog post on the couch; nothing feels better than home right now!
The past 20 days have been exactly like a roller coaster ride going at full speed, with non-stop fun and adrenaline rush! There have been very early wake ups, sleepless nights, longs hours of road trips, adventures in nature, shopping in different cities…All these leave me clueless about where to start! Let me just go straight away to my favorite moments spent in Kashmir during those days. After Dubai, we set out for a tour in India! Although I’ve been to India multiple times before, there were still places I was longing to visit. The diversity of the Indian culture never fails to amaze me!
Kashmir came in just at the right moment after touring Delhi, Jaipur, Agra, Haridwar and Rishikesh. It was the perfect moment to cut off from city life and spend time in the serene nature. The cool atmosphere in Srinagar Kashmir is nothing like the scorching heat of the previous cities I visited. I fell in love with the climate as soon as I stepped outside the airport! It was high time for this kind of weather after spending my days sweating like hell! What I loved the most is that we booked a houseboat on a lake for the four days we had to stay there.
From the houseboat, we could enjoy the glorious landscape of Srinagar, with the mirror-like lake, lush green valleys, snow-topped mountains and verdant trees rustling in the breeze. For a nature lover like me, all these were enough to take my breath away! Waking up to the singing of birds and a heavenly view with a delicious breakfast was overwhelming. Inside the houseboat, everything was antique and made of hard wood, carved into Indian designs. That place exudes absolute peace and serenity!
On top of that, it was a complete social media detox for me as Wi-Fi was not available (at first, it was kind of hard but then I got over it thanks to the beauty of that place). We had amazing Indian dishes prepared for us every night. The Kashmiri biryani and pulao are one of a kind! These were my two most favorite dishes! We had our days planned for outings but on the fourth and last day in Srinagar, we made sure to relish some peaceful moments on the houseboat and we also enjoyed a cool Shikara ride (wooden Kashmiri boat), exploring the floating gardens of water lilies on the lake. Pure bliss!
A sip of freshly made Indian tea was the perfect companion with the setting sun over the lake! All these reminiscences are making me relive these moments again. If ever you go to Kashmir, make sure to book a houseboat and enjoy every moment of it! I guess these are the kind of moments in life which are cherished forever. I hope you liked this blog post and it gave you a glimpse of Kashmir through my experiences. Enjoy the photos which I took on the houseboat and also when I wore the Kashmiri traditional dress. Since I’m back home now, I will be posting more often on the blog. I have tons of memories and photos to share with you all!
Much love xoxo
