I’ve been really inspired to create an edgy look using my black tulle skirt. There is something about that skirt which keeps me wanting to wear it again and again. I guess it’s just because of how girly it is, reminding me of a ballerina and at the same time, if styled differently, it can be edgy too. There are no better accessories than the choker, a good pair of booties and a bold red lips to bring out that daring side of you.

Talking about edgy style, it is something which kind of inspires me to be more assertive and stand up for myself in perplexing situations. I remember my high school days when I used to be the innocent and shy girl (I was such a potato lol!) and people would take advantage of this and walk on my feet. Since then, I’ve been through a quite a lot of challenging circumstances which shaped my personality and allowed me to rediscover myself in a different way. Though I admit that the transition has not been an easy one but the result is totally worth it and I’m grateful for the person I’ve become.

I’ve learnt that to be able to give back love to others, you should first love yourself and care for yourself enough to walk away from negative things in your life. Letting go is something I’ve always been struggling with but once it happens, the peace of mind which arises is just an amazing feeling. It’s about believing in yourself, trusting your own guts and learn to get what you deserve. Don’t settle for anything less! Here are five tips which hopefully can help you stand up for yourself in any situation:

  1. Make yourself your own priority

Notice how a situation makes you feel and learn to say no to anything which makes you feel bad. This does not mean you are being selfish, it’s just that you honor and respect yourself enough to care for your feelings.

  1. Face the truth

If there is something which I’m guilty of doing is escaping the truth and trying to convince myself that everything is alright. I’ve realized that doing so only brought more pain to me. The thing to do is to take some time and analyze the situation to notice what it is that’s causing the awkward feeling. This often leads to solutions about how to tackle the situation.

  1. Get back your power

Don’t allow anything to make you feel powerless. You don’t need to light yourself on fire, trying to brighten someone else’s existence. Know you worth and go for what you deserve!

  1. Try yoga

This is something I’m currently loving! To be honest, I’m new to practicing yoga. It’s been two months since I started and it definitely brought a positive change to my life. I love how relaxed and peaceful I feel after a yoga session. It’s the perfect way to bounce back and get rid of any negative energy.
