Cold Days

Cold days

Some of you must be wondering why I am writing about cold days at this time of the year! Well, I have to tell you that I’m in the southern hemisphere of the world in the middle of the ocean on my favorite island, Mauritius! While it’s summer in the northern hemisphere, here it’s kind of freezing cold. Well, it depends what you would normally call ‘freezing’! For me 16 degrees is really icy and I start freaking out about what to wear (lol) since being an island girl, I’m used to a warmer climate. I dedicate this post to all the people out there who are wearing some extra layers of clothes due to the cold weather these days. Countries such as South Africa, Australia and New Zealand; this one is for you guys!

You might be surprised to know that the coldest it gets in Mauritius is around 14 or 16 degrees which lasts for only about three months and the rest of the year, you get to enjoy the amazing sunny weather! I don’t know about you but when it gets colder, I feel like hibernating and not doing anything! But the thing is, I’m not a bear and my days are sometimes quite hectic. Luckily, though its winter here, the sun is around most of times and if you go to the coastal regions, you might think it’s a joke if I tell you it’s the winter season. No joke, you would even be tempted to swim in the heavenly blue lagoons which I do all the time! So it’s kind of a really fake winter if you are used to negative figures as far as the temperature is concerned and hell yeah, there’s no snow here but white sandy beaches with the sun smiling back at you! This applies for the coastal parts of the island! Meanwhile, in the center, things are getting pretty serious, especially when there are anti-cyclones and the temperature drops to 14 or 16 degrees! Today is one of those days!

So, I thought there is no better occasion to get the coat out of the wardrobe for a while. I received this brown and very cozy coat from Shein two weeks back and it’s really keeping me warm during these gloomy days. The soft fabric makes me feel like a furry little kitty! It’s so comfortable and I can’t feel the cold winds hitting my skin when I wear it. Goodbye goosebumps! I styled the coat with high-waisted jeans, a tribal long sleeves crop top and black leather booties! All these with minimal make up and accessories. I hope you like this look even if some of you are enjoying summer days! I guess that it’s the first time that I’m posting a full winter look on my blog. To be honest, my favorite season remains summer as I hate wearing layers and the sunshine always gives me a real moral boost! So I can’t wait for warmer days to come!
