Superfoods! That’s what we need! Tasty and as healthy as ever! I’ve been obsessed with avocados lately and I have all reasons to be. Health conscious people will know what I’m talking about! After using Avocados in different ways in my meals and also beauty routine, I thought that they really deserve a blog post here. Forget its bumpy, green alligator skin (that’s why it is also known as alligator pear) which might not be appealing to the eyes but once you cut it, the beautiful rich yellow texture will be enough to start the mouthwatering process. Here are few reasons why you need more avocados:

  1. Avocado is the best spread for bread

Here’s an easy recipe of a nice and tasty spread for your daily toast. It is one of my favorite and I would take it over jam anytime. You just need a ripe avocado, smash it into a creamy texture in a bowl, add a pinch of salt and pepper, a squeeze of lemon, some paprika flakes and the most appetizing bread spread is ready! You can add a poached egg on it or even smoked chicken, prawns or anything you want.

  1. Avocado leads to glowing skin

Oh yes avocados are not only for eating! Mix the avocado with honey and yoghurt and slather the paste on your face. Leave it for 20 minutes and see the wonders! It is known to treat sunburn, reduce wrinkles and rehydrate the skin thoroughly. If you have dry skin, you know what you need to do! Kim Kardashian seems to enjoy this one!

  1. Avocado helps absorb nutrients from other foods

Avocados are loaded with mono-saturated fat which helps the body absorb nutrients better. A study showed that adding avocado in a salad helps your organism absorb nutrients of other components such as carrots or lettuce. I absolutely love sliced avocados in my salad!

  1. Avocados will keep your heart safe

Heart disease is one of the most common diseases in the world. Cholesterol, triglycerides and blood pressure are linked to an increased risk. The good news is: studies found that avocados can be very helpful to help lower bad cholesterol and increase HDL cholesterol (the good one). It also reduces blood triglycerides.


  1. Avocado makes you feel full and helps for weight loss

Due to the high amount of fiber in avocados, it helps you feel full for longer. Soluble fiber slows the breakdown of carbohydrates in your body which helps to make you feel full. Fiber also contribute to weight loss and reduce blood sugar spikes.
