It seems that everyone is obsessed with coconut oil to solve their beauty dilemmas. Even celebrities are addicted to it; from Emma Stone to Miranda Kerr and Candice Swanepoel, they all seem to be completely fond of its benefits. This give us more reasons to adopt the ‘coco’ too!
I cannot say it’s a discovery for me; I’ve been used to it ever since I was a small girl when my mother was applying it to my hair every week. Honestly, I was not really keen about it at that time as I cared less about the wonders it could do. With time, I realized and my mother was no fool to recommend it to me. Now if you see my beauty space in the cupboard, you will always find a coconut oil jar shining bright as a natural skincare among all the other beauty products I use.
Here are 10 ways you can include coconut oil in your beauty routine. If you have not done so yet, it’s time to run to the closest store and get this beauty savior!
- Make-up Remover
This is my favorite way to use coconut oil. It seems to wipe off the make-up effortlessly, leaving the skin totally smooth. Especially as an eye make-up remover, it doesn’t irritate the skin or cause any kind of damage.
- Hair Mask
After running the jar in hot water to allow the coconut oil to melt, apply it after shampooing and twist your hair into a bun for at least five minutes. Then rinse your hair and see how it shines afterwards!
- Body Oil
Dry skin problems? Consider it solve if you use coconut oil as a body oil. The creamy texture is the perfect light moisturizer to slather all over. On top of that, it has a wonderful scent!
- Lip Balm
Coconut oil has ultra-hydrating properties and it can be the most effective remedy for chapped lips. Why not create your own lip balm in cool package (a small plastic pot or an aluminum tin) and use it every day.
- Cuticle Softener
If you want to strengthen your nails, hydrate the delicate cuticle skin and make your hands look younger, there is nothing better than coconut oil to do all the tasks for you. Just swipe a little amount of it onto each of your cuticles and allow it to sink in.
- Under-eye Creams
Time to replace those expensive under-eye creams with this simple and natural remedy. The under-eye area is known as the most delicate and thin skin, prone to fine lines, puffiness and dark circles. To avoid all these, just rub a small amount of coconut oil between your fingers and pat it underneath your eyes.
- Get rid of frizz hair
To have extra shiny, soft hair and to get rid of the stubborn frizz, only a pea size amount of coconut oil is enough! Just rub it between your fingers to warm it up, then apply to your hair tips for all day frizz protection.
- Face & Body Scrub
Mix half cup of sea salt or sugar with the same amount of melted coconut oil and get ready for a full body scrub in shower. This will leave your skin feeling baby soft and remove dead skin cells.
- Shaving Cream
Coconut oil can be a great alternate to shaving cream. Slather the melted oil all over your leg and let your razor glide smoothly over the skin, allowing a super close shave. It’s better to use it outside the shower to have more control.
Glowy skin is what we all want! Dab a little amount of melted coconut oil onto the top of your cheekbones, Cupid’s bow and on your brow bones as a natural highlighter and for hydrated skin.
